According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), there is currently no evidence that food is a likely source or route of transmission of the virus.
The EFSA argues that experiences from previous outbreaks of related coronaviruses, such as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, show that transmission through food consumption did not occur and there is no evidence to suggest that coronavirus COVID-19 is any different in this respect. Based on the article, the export of agro-processed products to Malaysia, also from Italy, does not entail any risk for Malaysia’s Public Health and should be considered safe.
